Duathlon: Run to Live, Bike to Ride

International recognition, honor, and …responsibility: officially a Powerman ambassador in Greece!

Η εαρινή μου αγωνιστική σεζόν έχει κορυφωθεί όπως καταλαβαίνετε, αλλά ανάμεσα στους αγώνες ευτύχησα αυτές τις μέρες να έχω και μια εξωαγωνιστική διεθνής τιμητική διάκριση. Η διοργάνωση του Παγκοσμίου Πρωταθλήματος Διάθλου “Powerman Zofingen” με τίμησε δίνοντας μου το χρίσμα του επίσημου πρεσβευτή Powerman στην Ελλάδα.

>Λίγο πολύ έτσι ένιωθα έτσι κι αλλιώς, αφού ήμουν ο πρώτος Έλληνας που συμμετείχε σε αυτούς του αγώνες και βεβαίως ο πρώτος τερμάτισε και στο θρυλικό Powerman Zofingen της Ελβετίας. Πλέον όμως έγινε και επίσημο από την διοργάνωση του πιο ιστορικού αγώνα διάθλου στον Κόσμο που φιλοξενεί άλλωστε και το παγκόσμιο πρωτάθλημα τα τελευταία χρόνια.

Ευχαριστώ ιδιαίτερα τους Ελβετούς διοργανωτές για αυτή τη διεθνή αναγνώριση και την εμπιστοσύνη μιας θέσης ανάμεσα σε ξεχωριστούς αθλητές και ανθρώπους. Είναι βέβαια μεγάλη τιμή για μένα, όμως παράλληλα είναι και μεγάλη ευθύνη να φανώ αντάξιος των προσδοκιών.

Ποιος ο ρόλος μου πλέον λοιπόν? Να παρακινήσω και άλλους συμπατριώτες μου να συμμετάσχουν στους αγώνες διάθλου Powerman. Ναι βασικά, σε πολλούς από εσάς που με διαβάζετε αναφέρομαι. Θέλω να πιστεύω πως γράφοντας μέσα από αυτό το μπλογκ τις περιπέτειες μου λίγο πολύ σας δίνω μια εικόνα της πρόκλησης αυτών των αγώνων και ειδικά όσον αφορά το Powerman Zofingen για το οποίο κορυφαίοι τριαθλητές έχουν πει ότι σαν αγώνας είναι πολύ πιο δύσκολος ακόμα και από Ironman εξαιτίας των υψομετρικών που έχει σε ποδηλασία και τρέξιμο

Το επόμενο διάστημα πιστεύω θα είμαστε σε θέση να φτιάξουμε κι ένα οργανωμένο πακέτο συμμετοχής με το ταξιδιωτικό γραφείο Sportsbox.gr με το οποίο συνεργάζομαι έτσι κι αλλιώς και μου οργανώνει όλα μου τα ταξίδια φέτος.

International recognition, honor, and …responsibility: officially a Powerman ambassador in Greece!

My spring racing season is on, but between races I am fortunate these days to have a non-race international honor. The organization of the World Duathlon Championships “Powerman Zofingen” honored me by giving me the anointing of the official Powerman ambassador to Greece.

Pretty much so I feel anyway, since I was the first Greek who participated in this race and finished the legendary Powerman Zofingen, Switzerland. But now I have become officialy ambassador of the most historic Duathlon race of the World which also hosted the world championships in recent years.

I trully thank the Swiss organizers for this international recognition and trust of a distinct position among these athletes and people. It is certainly an honor, but also a great responsibility, and I must keep up with these expectations.

What is my role now? To motivate my compatriots to participate in Powerman Duathlon races and of course at Zofingen. Yes, I am actulaly talking to most of you, who are reading this blog. I believe that through writing my adventures on this blog, pretty much I give you an idea of the challenge of these races, especially for the Powerman Zofingen, for which top triathletes have said that as a race is much more difficult even than Ironman because of the altitude differences on cycling and running routes.

Soon, we hope to be able to have an organized travel package and participation from the travel agency Sportsbox.gr with which organizes all my trips this year.
